Frequently asked questions

How do I add the keyboard?

Open Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard… and choose ArdusKey. Then tap ArdusKey in the keyboard list and turn on Allow Full Access. In any text field, switch to ArdusKey with the globe key and tap the microphone.

Why does it ask for Full Access?

A keyboard extension cannot run the microphone and the speech model by itself. Full Access lets the ArdusKey app and the keyboard exchange the recognition request and result locally on your iPhone, through their shared App Group. It is not used to send voice or text off the device. Without Full Access, basic typing still works: the globe key, space, backspace, and return.

Does my voice go to a server?

No. Speech recognition and sentence refinement run on your iPhone, and dictated audio and text are not sent to Frameout servers. The network is used only for the first-run model download (about 550 MB), update checks, App Store subscription processing, and opening the terms, privacy, and support pages. Once the model is installed, dictation works in airplane mode.

How much does it cost?

Every feature is free for 14 days after the first launch, with no usage cap and no payment method required. After that you need a subscription: ₩3,300 per month or ₩29,000 per year. Subscriptions renew automatically and can be cancelled at any time in your iPhone's App Store subscription settings. Basic typing keeps working after the free period ends.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone running iOS 16.4 or later. iPad and Android are not supported at this time. The first release is on the Korean App Store, for Korean dictation.

A word keeps being recognised wrong.

Add it to the User Dictionary in the app: enter what is heard (e.g. 케이피아이) and how you want it written (e.g. KPI), and ArdusKey inserts your spelling. This helps with names, company names, product names, and English terms. Known limits: when you speak more than 100 characters in one go with strong refinement, a clause that looks less important may be dropped entirely; nearby speech from other people can be transcribed too; each recording is capped at 60 seconds. Please check important text before sending.
